New Office

I’m in the office by the lake, otherwise known as the gazebo at Chez Sandau, and work just seems to fly by when you’re sitting in here. This afternoon we’re going to be putting the boat in and going for a spin. Really looking forward to that.

A little sad about Pawlenty – looking more and more like he isn’t the guy. Would have been nice to see a Minnesota kid on a national ticket again. Some were even speculating that even with a McCain loss, Pawlenty could use the VP nomination and national campaign as a springboard to put his hat in the ring in 2012.

I’m hoping the convention next week in St. Paul is quieter than folks expect – it sure looks like the DNC was.

End of Summer

Can’t hardly believe that summer is starting to wind down. We spent three straight days at the fair last weekend and the kids went twice – no stroller and good sleeping afterwards! Jack even started warming up to ice cream a little bit, but found his new best friend in a cone of chocolate chip cookies. Nolan, on the other hand, wasn’t as picky and tried some of everything.

The boat finally made its triumphant return after almost two months in the shop. Looks as good as new and we’re excited to get it back in the water at least one more time. It’s going up with us to horseshoe lake this weekend and we’ll see if we can get the kids on the tube.

Richmond, MN, Mexico, and points in between

Sitting by Horseshoe Lake outside of Richmond, MN – what a place to be working. Actually, the quiet of the lake is making me uber-productive. So productive in fact that I have time to put a post up with updates!

Melissa and I were in Mexico last weekend for her cousin Tiffany’s wedding. As you can imagine, the western coast of Mexico is a tad sultry in August. We had a great time and my parents survived with the kids for a few days.

The weekend before I went down to Indianapolis and attended the Brickyard 400. I am not a NASCAR crazy, but wanted very much to go and see a race in person. And I’m very glad I did – the whole experience was a lot of fun. The only downer was the race itself – bad tires (thanks Goodyear) led to a maximum of 13 laps in a row under green. We had access on Saturday to the pits, garages, and driver trailers. We were next to #24 when they started it up and ran it wide open for a couple of minutes – deafening!

We have spent a few weekends this year, this one included, with friends at their cabin on Horseshoe. they have kids that are the same age (twins too) and so the kids are well occupied and tired out by sundown, then we have some time for cards and some fun!

April & May Pictures

Well, its not quite the weekend anymore, but the pictures I promised are up. Both April and May albums are available!

On the Road

Sitting here in a hotel room in Seattle (Bellevue), finishing a week of Management training. Worthwhile, but glad it is done now.

I’ll be updating photos this weekend – looks like nothing but rain at home. Looks like the boat sits another weekend.

The boys went to their first baseball game of the year. The Twins lost, but the boys made it on the jumbotron. Sorry I missed it, but a cool experience. Wish we had a picture of it!
